The Western growth corridor is expected to play a significant role in the future development of South East Queensland. With a forecasted average of 50,000 new residents per year over the next 20 years, the governement is committed to invested on transport infrastucture in the region.

Transport

The upcoming $646 million passenger rail line from Richlands to Springfield will reduce the reliance on Centenary Highway and will provide commuters with a greener way to travel. The future Springfield station will be opposite the Orion Shopping Centre and convenient to residents of Fairways.

  • Education City and Orion Shopping Centre bus stations
  • Darra and Springfield train stations with provision for future stations
  • Integrated bus /rail interchange facility at the new Springfield station
  • $270 million recent extension of the Centenary Highway
  • Plus duplication of the Centenary Highway from two to four lanes north of the Logan Motorway interchange
  • Future rail line connecting Springfield and Brisbane CBDs
  • Network of cycle path and walkways linking city parks to retail and education centres
