Easy Access - The Western Growth Corridor

The Western growth corridor is expected to play a significant role in the future development of South East Queensland. With a forecasted average of 50,000 new residents per year over the next 20 years transport and access is critical.

Future planning for the region includes:

  • The Queensland Government's $1 billion committment to road and rail infrastructure within the region.
  • $270 million planned extension of Centenary Highway open by 2009.
  • Centenary Highway to be duplicated between Springfield and Brisbane CBDs by 2015.
  • Springfield Central railway station and new rail line connecting Springfield and Brisbane CBDs to be constructed.  
  • Network of cycle ways and pedestrian routes linking city parks to retail and education centres.
