The inaugural Gainsborough Greens Art Awards and Exhibition held in August 2011 proved a major success. This year’s awards, now known as ‘The Gainsboroughs’, are shaping up to be even bigger and better.
Open to artists Australia-wide, there’s a first prize of $10,000, two runners-up prizes of $2,000 each, and a $1,000 People’s Choice Award.
1. Entry is free
2. Entries will open on 1 June 2012 and will need to be submitted electronically via the Gainsborough Greens website.
3. The theme for 2012 is open.
4. Medium – oil, acrylic, watercolour or mixed media.
5. The size of the work must NOT exceed 1.5m x 1.5m.
6. Anyone can enter the awards providing they have been an Australian resident for a period of 5 years prior to the closing date of the competition and that the work submitted was completed within two years of that date.
7. Each competitor may enter ONE work only. The entry must be the original work of the competitor.
8. Entries must be suitably framed for handling. A stretched canvas is considered framed.
9. All entries accepted for hanging must be available for showing continuously throughout the period of the exhibition from 17 - 26 August.
