History is being rewritten at Waverley Park. The roar of huddled crowds on Saturday afternoons and the clash of the AFL titans that once rang out are no more than just echoes. Today, as Hawthorn football players train on the oval, the familiar sound of boots striking balls evokes fond memories of Waverley Park's sporting past. Residents of Oval Front Homes have box seats, cheering on from their balconies during practice matches and training. While other clubs are outgrowing their local roots the ‘Hawks' are flying their colours proudly in this lively community.
